Actions

Purple staining indicates older bacterial plaque. Pink staining indicates newer bacterial plaque.

Indications

To make dental plaque visible during demonstration of oral hygiene procedures.

Contraindications

Patients may not be able to remove stained plaque easily after demonstration.

Precautions

Do not swallow.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Avoid contact with clothing and surfaces as staining may occur.

Directions for use

Place 3-4 drops of the solution on the tongue and swish over teeth. Rinse once, then examine teeth under good lighting. The appearance of pink stains indicates new bacterial plaque, and the appearance of purple indicates old/well established bacterial plaque. The staining is effectively removed through proper brushing. Any discolouration of the tongue and mouth will naturally diminish.
