Composition

NOW 10 Carbamide Peroxide 10% w/v and NOW 16 Carbamide Peroxide 16% w/v

Indications

Teeth darkened by age or lifestyle factors such as wine, tea, or coffee can typically lighten by 6–8 shades on the Vita guide within 7–10 days. Teeth discoloured by fluorosis, tobacco, or mild tetracycline staining may respond within 10–15 days. Results vary depending on the cause and severity of discolouration and the duration of application. The tray can be worn for as long as comfortable but should be rested for a day if sensitivity occurs.

Contraindications

Lichen Planus may be exacerbated by Carbamide Peroxide Gel and tooth bleaching is contraindicated for these patients. Carbamide Peroxide 10% and 16% will remove the smear layer from dentine but has no reported deleterious effects on tooth structure. NOW whitening gel has no effect on amalgam or gold restorations. Porcelain and composite resin restorations have demonstrated slight surface roughening under severe laboratory conditions.

Precautions

Occasional uneven bleaching or banding may occur and should be discussed with patients beforehand. Continuous use for more than three days may lead to temporary sensitivity or soft tissue irritation. Not recommended for children under 14 or during pregnancy.
Do not overfill the tray. When not in use, store it in the provided container.

Directions for Use

• Ensure the tray is dry.
• Apply a thin line (around 2 mm) of gel across the fine bristles on both sides.
• Insert the tray and wear for 30-60 minutes
• Remove mouth tray and spit our any residue of gel
• Wash tray thoroughly with warm water and leave to dry in the holder provided before next use

• For best uptake, gently dry teeth with a microfibre cloth before inserting the tray.
• After inserting the tray, a gentle suction can help draw the tray closer to the teeth for more even contact.
• Whitening progress depends on wear time and frequency, with visible results typically within 10 days.

Poisoning

If poisoning occurs contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water. If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash the skin thoroughly.
